DESCRIPTION
The masseria stands on a gently sloping, wooded hillside affording panoramic views, that on clear days, reach the Albanian coastline.
The structure dates back to the XV° century and it has been carefully and lovingly restored using traditional materials and workmanship. Abandoned for several years, today the farmhouse has been reinstated in its role in the surrounding rural territory, offering a very suggestive and peaceful environment. Surrounded by 8 hectares (20 acres) of land, the farm has received full biological certification and produces vegetables, olives, legumes, aromatic herbs, cereal products and typical local fruit cultivated with the organic method.
A small herd of rare ionian goats, managed coherently with the biological pledge, contributes to the farm economy.

Masseria Santa Lucia is situated deep in the Macurano archeological park, at the foot of Borgo Montesardo. The town of Alessano, a gem of baroque architecture, is nearby. Macurano, an important archeological find preserves the site of an ancient Greek/Byzantine settlement, later transformed into underground oil presses. Also in the park adjacent to the Masseria it is possible to visit three sites that testify to the history of the area.

Rooms
The seven guest rooms are situated in the completely renovated antique farm buildings. Using only ecologically approved materials in respect of the architectural and archeological tradition of the Salento, each comfortable room includes a private bath, air conditioning/heating, a private patio garden shaded by lovely shrubs and flowers.

Cooking
The delicious flavours of traditional Salento cooking is enhanced by the wholesome products of our farm, all rigorously grown by organic method of cultivation. The restaurant menu is completed with a few carefully selected local products. In our kitchen you may also learn the secrets of preparing typical traditional dishes, such as homemade pasta, "pucce", "pitte" and "pittule". Just reserve the cooking course you like.
