DESCRIPTION
The Masseria of the 12 barns is a construction that was fortified in the 18th century. It is situated in the middle of the countryside just outside Minervino di Lecce (a 5 minute walk) 7 kms from the beach and only a 20 minute drive from Otranto. It was once a big farm lived in by the landed gentry, and it included the living accommodation for the farmers, the stables, the fodder and harvest deposits and a snow field. The structure- approximately 1000 square meters – is surrounded by an ancient wall with a spacious court – and is named after the 12 underground barns , excavated in the stone , but it was also known as the “masseria of Saint Peter” or the “masseria of the Two Masters”.

It was rebuilt in 2008 respecting the original building materials and the original style. Some parts like the portal in the entrance are original and submitted to the “cultural heritage “.

The masseria offers 6 “converted “bedrooms, a dining room that sits 12 people, a communal internal area, a large terrace and garden.

The rooms
The Masseria of the 12 Barns can accommodate single people, groups and families organizing the rooms according to the requirements of its guests. We have rooms for 2 where we can add a small bed, rooms with loft conversions that can accommodate up to 4 people and a little house with a kitchen what can accommodate 4 people. Each room is provided with a bathroom, air conditioning and a small balcony. All the rooms are non smoking and offer internet Wi-Fi access to the web.

Breakfast
Having breakfast should be a pleasure and when on holiday it must become a double pleasure! We propose a typical Mediterranean breakfast with a self service where one can choose from coffee, milk, bread and butter, jam and marmalade, honey, eggs, olives, natural fruit juices. But if you have any particular needs (like a typical English breakfast!) we will organize ourselves in order to satisfy your needs.

Communal Spaces
The masseria has spacious communal spaces. Indoors there is a big dining room, where breakfast is served in the morning and there is also a living room with a large fire place, where especially in the evenings it will be pleasant to stop and have a drink with the other guests or read, watch television and play board games ( by the way we are passionate bridge players!!!) The extensive external court with the well is a place where one can relax and play while the large terrace is particularly magical at night time where one can admire the stars during the warm summer nights.
